Thomas (Tom) Schuler

President and Chief Executive Officer

With more than 25 years of global leadership experience, Tom possesses a dynamic and entrepreneurial passion that has fueled his notable success in the building and construction sector. Tom joined Solidia Technologies in 2011 to lead the company towards global commercialization.

Tom led two global businesses with revenue in excess of $1 billion, including as President of DuPont Building Innovations. He has served on DuPont’s Growth and Sustainability Boards and the World Business Council’s Board for Sustainable Development. He has spoken in the Americas, Europe and Asia to international trade and sustainable growth groups, sharing his conviction of the need to change the conversation around sustainability when commercializing new technologies. To effectively convert adopters, Tom advises leading with any potential cost-savings or competitive edge that the new technology conveys and how closely it parallels current practices. After clearly demonstrating a consistency with future business prosperity, innovators should follow up with the improved sustainability profile as an added value. Based on his many years of experience, Tom believes that disruptive technology should, above all, be designed for simplicity and ease of adoption.

Tom has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Virginia, has conducted extensive graduate study in finance and marketing, and has a mastery of conversational German and French. He serves on UVa’s Jefferson Scholarship Foundation’s Alumni Advisory Council and national selection committee.
